Important announcement: The transfer process has concluded for the 2017-2018 school year
Transfer requests were accepted twice for the 2017-2018 school year during a designated application window. The final window to request an in-District transfer closed on September 22, 2017.Transfer requests for the 2018-2019 school year will be submitted online through Family Access begining in March, 2018.
2017-2018 Non-Employee In-District Transfer RegulationParent/Guardian – The general instructions apply to all transfer requests.General Instructions:1. DEADLINES – Transfer requests will be received from Monday, February 13, 2017, through Friday, May 5, 2017. Consideration for these requests will not occur until after May 22, 2017. Transfer requests will not be accepted after May 5, 2017. The District will resume receiving transfer requests from September 4, 2017, through September 22, 2017. Consideration for these transfer requests will not occur until after September 25, 2017. Transfer requests will not be accepted after September 22, 2017.2. Transfer requests will be considered based on the order received, student teacher ratio, facility availability, and enrollment.3. Repeat transfers – Students who attended and completed the 2016-2017 school year on an approved transfer and desire to remain at the same campus may continue to attend the same school as long as the parent and the student reside in the district, meet all transfer eligibility requirements, and there is available space. The originally approved transfer request will serve as the official transfer document and no additional transfer request is required unless a change in attendance zones occur.4. Sibling Transfers – Sibling transfers allow the sibling of a student who completed the previous school year on an approved transfer and is currently enrolled to attend the same campus for the current school year to request a transfer to the same campus.5. Transfer requests submitted will be given consideration based on campus enrollment. A student transferring from one high school attendance area to another shall not be eligible to participate in a UIL varsity-level athletic extracurricular program of the receiving school for a period of one calendar year following the student’s first day of attendance at the receiving high school. Participation in UIL activities shall be in accordance with all applicable UIL regulations.Middle SchoolTransfer GuidelinesTransfer requests submitted will be given consideration based on campus enrollment.
Elementary School Transfer GuidelinesTransfers for students who did not complete the 2016-2017 school year on a transfer or a student that has never applied for a transfer in the past will be required to complete a new transfer request form. Transfer requests submitted will be considered as long as the grade level requested is below 80% of capacity. New requests will not be accepted for the following campuses: Chisholm Ridge, Greenfield, Lake Pointe, and Willow Creek.
Elementary Transfer Guidelines for siblings of students attending Chisholm Ridge, Greenfield, Lake Pointe, and Willow Creek.Students who completed the 2016-2017 school year on an approved transfer and who are enrolled at the same campus for the 2017-2018 school year for Chisholm Ridge, Greenfield, Lake Pointe, and Willow Creek that have a sibling desiring to attend the same campus may submit a sibling transfer request to attend the same school. If we are unable to approve the request, the district will attempt to offer a campus in which all siblings can attend.
Dual Residence or Power of Attorney
Students who have an established primary (permanent) residence in the district and establish a second residence through a Power of Attorney, Guardian change, cohabitation, rental/purchase agreement or through any other means of establishing a second residence will be expected to attend the campus in the attendance zone in which their primary residence is located.
