EMS ISD connects with students, teachers in Belize
The EMS ISD Instructional Technology and Curriculum Departments are working with the non-profit organization, Teachers Reaching Teachers Globally (TRTG), to provide professional development for the Principal Teachers in the Toledo District, Belize.
As part of this partnership, EMS ISD students also will have opportunities to connect with the Belizeans to learn about their culture and school practices. On Friday, December 9, students across EMS ISD participated in a Skype session with teachers in Belize. Future opportunities to connect through the use of technology are planned throughout the coming year.
TRTG seeks to empower teachers to impact future generations through professional development and mentoring relationships. Through their collaboration, EMS Instructional Technologists Jeni Long, Ricky Gode, and Sallee Clark restored 12 donated computers to deliver to the public schools in Punta Gorda, Belize. While in the Toledo District, the TRTG & EMS ISD teams, including EMS Social Studies/AVID Coordinator Debbie Diffie, will also provide professional development regarding student engagement strategies for critical thinking and the use of technology in the classroom. Aubrey ISD's Brockett Elementary School Principal, Connie Lott, joined the team offering professional development on the Fundamental Five strategies. Thank you to the Belize Training Center for hosting and collaborating with the EMS ISD team to offer this professional development in Belize.
Teachers Reaching Teachers Globally will be returning to Belize this summer to deliver 10 donated desktops refurbished by EMS ISD. You can follow this team while in Belize at #trtgimpact & #emstechsperts.
