Saginaw Girls' Track and Field become back-to-back district champions

 Saginaw High girls' track team holds their trophy in the air
 
The Lady Rough Riders of Saginaw High School claimed their district title for the second consecutive year during the District 6-5A Track and Field meet hosted by Chisholm Trail HS on April 5-6. The Saginaw girls became the 2017 UIL District champions out of eight teams and advanced to the Area meet at Northwest ISD on April 12-13.
 
Individual District 6-5A placements listed below: 
 
3200m — 1st: Christyn Smith
800m — 2nd: Ty'Asia Coleman, 5th: Eva Mora
100H — 1st: Amani Lawrence, 2nd: Simone Barren
4x200 Relay — 5th: Yakandara Bassey, Aaliyah Tarver, Mikeska Gill, Divanny Holguin
400m — 3rd: Ty'Asia Coleman
300H — 2nd: Amani Lawrence, 5th: Simone Barren
1600m — 2nd: Eva Mora, 3rd: Christyn Smith
4x400 Relay — 4th: Ty'Asia Coleman, Divanny Holguin, Mikeska Gill, Christyn Smith, ATL: Laura Guzman, Eva Mora
High Jump — 1st: Simone Barren
Long Jump — 1st - Mikeska Gill
Triple Jump — 1st: Mikeska Gill, 3rd: Aaliyah Tarver

Additionally, the Boy's Track and Field team had several Area qualifiers:

Boy's 4 x 200 Relay — 1st: Lamario Wright, Quindell Samreth, Clint Smith, Richedi Tshitoko
Boy's 200 Meters  3rd: Quindell Samreth
